58th Youth Festival

On February 17, 2024, on the occasion of the 58th Youth Day celebration, the Raise-Up Cameroon Foundation and the Latiwa Development Foundation organized the “REVIVAL CONFERENCE,” a cinematic conference on the theme “The Involvement of Youth in the Socio-Economic Development of Cameroon: Overview, Challenges, Solutions & Opportunities.”

This significant event aimed to impact a substantial segment of the Cameroonian youth (ages 15 to 35). It attracted the participation of 120 young Cameroonians and Africans who gathered to gain insights from six esteemed mentors:

  1. Mr. Olivier Guillaume Beer, the United Nations representative for refugees. He began by redefining youth according to international conventions and Cameroon’s national legislation. He emphasized ten core values: self-belief, patience, youth action, the necessity of continuous learning, knowing one’s limits, respecting elders and parents, curiosity and positive passion, knowledge and respect for others, a fighting spirit, and responsibility.

  2. Me Cathy Latiwa Amato, Founder and President of LDF-Cameroon. She focused on comprehensive personal and professional development, the pursuit of accurate information, networking, and the ability to undertake self-education in the digital age.

  3. Ms. Manuella Kengne, President of Raise Up Cameroon. She shared her life story to motivate the youth and emphasized the need to seize opportunities and be inventive in the face of current challenges.

  4. Mr. Julien Kemajou, a young business operator. He spoke to the youth about professional and managerial resilience. Drawing from his own experiences and hardships, he inspired them to recognize their potential and set goals while considering their weaknesses.

  5. Mr. Éric Christian Nya, a representative from CRTV media. He advised on the responsible and professional use of social media. He highlighted the importance of seeking and verifying information and discussed the spirit of patriotism and the love for one’s country and doing quality work.

  6. Mrs. Cathy Meba, Regional Councilor for South Cameroon. She discussed associative entrepreneurship and the necessity of youth solidarity. She also enlightened the youth on the benefits of maintaining a strong and responsible moral framework.

At the end of the conferences and discussions, a raffle was held with numerous prizes won: a laptop, training in artificial intelligence, communication credit, a meeting with a high-ranking United Nations official, a day of relaxation and gourmet experience at Noah’s Village, a scholarship worth 35,000 FCFA, and more.

Additionally, two musical interludes were performed by the artist Ukëry.
